I am in my 30s and still remember that this was the first book to make me read non-stop until 3 in the morning when I was in middle school. Awesome book. Will read again.
Borrowed from Jonesy. It pulled at my heart strings then about a year ago, literally made my mouth fall open, hence why I haven't had the courage to see the movie yet.
"The Book of Night Women" is a haunting tale of the slave woman's plight of having to find herself caught between the worlds of being the daughter of an overseer and slave. It is not just Lilith's story, but the story of all women who were slaves.
The book is very good. This wouldnt have been a novel I would have selected fro myself. However, I admit I did enjoy it. There are a couple of scenes described that may be uncomfortable for some. The plot kept me wanting to know what secret would be revealed next.
Read in high school as a required reading. It started off so slow to me, but I couldn't get enough of it in the middle. I must admit that it was one of my favorites as a teen.
